New Delhi, Feb. 28 — A 16-year-old girl, who was trafficked from West Bengal to Delhi over a month ago, was rescued from a village in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, on Friday.

According to the police, a minor had kidnapped the girl from Alipurduar in New Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, and was brought to Delhi on January 7.

“The girl told the rescue team that she was brought to Delhi on January 7 from the New Jalpaiguri railway station. She was handed over to another person, who took her to Bhilwara, a city in Mewar region of Rajasthan, where she was forced to work in a cotton factory. The girl has gone through physical and mental torture,” said Rishi Kant of Shakti Vahini, a nongovernmental organisation, which was part of the rescue operation.
