NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old girl from Jharkhand, who was working as a domestic help at a businessman’s house in east Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area, has alleged that she was beaten up and raped by her employer’s nephew after which she became pregnant.
A case of rape under Section 376 IPC and causing hurt by means of poison under Section 328 IPC has been registered based on the girl’s complaint.
In her complaint, the girl told cops that she was brought to Delhi a year ago by a woman whom she referred to as her ‘aunt’. She was employed at the businessman’s house through a placement agency based in Shakurpur. She said that within a few days of being employed, her employer’s nephew, identified as Shanu (23), started abusing her sexually. She said when she complained to her employer, he ignored it.
The girl even claimed that once the employer’s family members came to know about her five-month pregnancy, they forced her to have pills which made her fall sick.
She finally managed to escape from the house on October 17 and contacted a friend who took her to the police station. In the meantime, her employer registered a police case accusing the girl of theft.
The cops recorded the girl’s statement under Section 164 CrPC and sent her for a medical examination where doctors confirmed rape and the pregnancy. Later, she was sent for counseling at the CWC after which she was taken to a welfare home in north Delhi.
Police said the girl’s mother had died three years ago after which her father remarried. Her stepmother then introduced her to the woman who brought her to Delhi. Cops are also probing the role of the placement agency owner who claimed that the girl had come to Delhi on her own and approached their placement agency for a job.
“We have tried to contact the family of the girl and are trying to locate her parents,” said Rishi Kant from NGO Shakti Vahini, who have volunteered to help cops in locating the girl’s family.
