A 32 year woman, native of Morigaon district of Assam was rescued by a joint team of Assam police and Haryana Police on Wednesday from the clutches of her exploiter in the Haryana village. The woman reportedly was trafficked for the purpose of forced marriage and was sold for Rs.67000.
The mother of two kids was lured by a man of Bongaigaon district who first contacted her over her mobile phone. Gradually, he became befriended with the woman and promised her for marriage. He promised her to get married and settle in Delhi. He first brought the woman to Delhi and allegedly sold her to a Haryana man for Rs.67000. The girl was kept captive with him and subjected her to worst form of slavery. She would perform household chores the whole day and at night the man would torment her sexually.
The police officer heading the Assam Police team said, “The woman while in captive with the exploiter somehow managed to call to her family. Taking the lead the police team proceeded to Haryana and rescued the victim. A case has been registered in a Police station in Morigaon.”
In yet another incident, a minor girl Sabita (name changed), native of Morigaon district of Assam was rescued from Faridabad on Tuesday by Haryana police and NGO Shakti Vahini. The girl was rescued from the house of one Nempal in Faridabad district.
The NGO was tipped off by a well wisher regarding the girl’s plight. Immediately, the Haryana police was contacted and a rescue team was formed. The team then rescued the girl from the clutches of her exploiters. During the rescue operation the team had to face stiff resistance as the community was opposing the operation.
During the counselling the girl said that she was brought here by her elder sister who was married to a Haryana family. The minor girl was kept confined in a house under the jurisdiction of the Sarai Khwaja police station. She was forced to do all kinds of household works including washing utensils, cloths, brimming, cleaning and also to take care of the kids of Nempal. Not able to bear the torture the girl recently ran away from the house, however she was again took by Nempal. When the villagers opposed he shifted his rented accommodation to the nearby lane. During the rescue operation the girl was found extremely traumatized.
The minor victim was then produced before the Faridabad Child Welfare Committee after her medical examination. As per the direction of the Child Welfare Committee the girl was given shelter to the children home.
Meanwhile, Shakti Vahini informed the Superintendent of Police, Morigaoan about the rescue of the minor girl faridabad. The SP immediately took action and directed the assam police team to request the concerned CWC for her custody. The SP also send a letter requesting the custody of the girl. The Child Welfare Committee, Faridabad has handed over the girl to the Assam Police team with a direction to produce her before the Child Welfare Committee, Morigaon and also submit the compliance report.
