• On receiving information through e-mail, Shakti Vahini representatives went to Kamla market police station and informed the SHO Mr. Promod Joshi that a girl is confined at a Kotha at G.B. Road and forced into prostitution.
• On receiving the information a raiding team was constituted and Shakti Vahini NGO along with Police raiding team reached the brothel no 70.
• During interrogation from the girls present in the brothel, one girl came forward and said that she wants to go back to her place and was confined in the brothel forcefully by Sheetal and Rekha.
• Victim further mentioned that she belongs to West Bengal and her father is a contractor of manufacturing Bus stands. She has studied upto 9th Standard. She further mentioned that she developed friendship with a boy named Ajay @ Raju who told her that he wants to marry her and if she rejects her proposal, he will kill her and her family.
• On the pretext of love and marriage he told her to accompany her to Delhi. He took her to Sialda Railway station where he introduced her to a lady. Raju told her to go to Delhi along with the lady and he will follow them 2-3 days later.
• On reaching Delhi, the lady kept her in a house in Majnu ka Tila for a week. Raju did not come to Majnu Ka tila in these 7 days.
• The lady who brought her to Delhi sold off her to Sheetal and Rekha for Rs. 30,000/-
• Victim was beaten up when she refused to go to G.B road.
• At G.B road, victim was kept at brothel number 70 where she was forced into prostitution.
• Sheetal and Rekha told her that she will be sent to her house only after one year.
• All the earnings were distributed among Sheetal and Rekha.
• After the rescue, Rekha was arrested and FIR was registered U/S 366A/372/373/376/342/ 109/34 IPC and Sec 3/4/5/6 ITPA.
• Shakti Vahini team counselled the girl and the medical of the victim was done. As the victim was a minor, she was produced before the CWC and her statement was also recorded u/s 164 Cr.P.C befor Id. MM. Her custody was further handed over to her father.
• On 9/3/12 Sheetal was also arrested.
• The Accused Raju has not been traced yet.
• A raid was also conducted at Majnu Ka Tila.
• Victim also mentioned that during her stay in Brothel, the victim developed a friendship with a girl. That girl called her family from a customer’s number. After two days, victim did the same and informed her family about her whereabouts.
• The family approached Kamla Market Police Station along with Shakti Vahini.
• At the time of recording, the father also got threatening calls from a man, who said that he will be killed if his daughter goes to Delhi to depose before the court.
• Both the Convicted persons were on bail.
• After the examination of total 22 witnesses, the Honourable court of Additional sessions judge , on 25th April, 2014, found Rekha and Sheetal guilty u/s 373/34, 366A & 342/34 IPC and Sections3/4/5/6 of ITPA and sentenced a Rigorous Imprisonment of 10 years and a fine of Rs.35,000/- each. The court also directed the compensation to victim for which DLSA is directed to decide the quantum.
• Kamla Market Police Station is also directed the closure of Kotha No. 70, IIIrd Floor, Left Side, G.B Road, Delhi within 7 days of the judgement.
