A minor girl, who managed to escape from the clutches of her 45-year-old trafficker in Haryana, has been rescued by a joint intervention of the Shakti Vahini, the CHILDLINE Gurgaon and the Gurgaon Police on Thursday. The girl, who belongs to Delhi, was allegedly sold by her mother for Rs.70,000 to Sukhbir Rana of Hansi.
As told by the 15-year-old girl to the NGO representatives, she and her sister were taken by their mother on the pretext of watching a movie. But, instead of going to the theatre she took them to Hansi. Mote, an accomplice of the woman, also joined them in Hansi. The two then forcefully handed over the girl to Sukhbir Rana, who took her to his house in the village.
The girl was forced to do various household chores during the day. When Sukhbir tried to force himself on her at night, she raised an alarm and tried to run away. Sukhbir then beat her up. It caught the attention of the maternal aunt of the trafficker and she took her to her own house. She told Sukhbir that she will convince the girl and everything will be all right soon. A few days later, the girl was taken to her mother’s house in Bijwasan in Delhi. When Sukhbir reached there to bring her back, the girl ran away and reached her sister’s at Salapur in Delhi.
A woman happened to notice the girl sitting alone and crying. The girl narrated the ordeal to this woman. In the meantime, the woman tried to find out the name of NGOs working against trafficking. After two days, she called the girl to Gurgaon and informed Shakti Vahini and CHILDLINE about her. The NGO team then contacted the police of the Udyog Vihar police station. The girl was then sent to a Children Home in Gurgaon as per the directions of the Child Welfare Committee.
