New Delhi, Oct. 9: The brutally injured tribal maidservant from Sahebganj spent seven hours on a Delhi pavement as her hospital discharged her this morning without an explanation and readmitted her in the evening only after high-profile politicians intervened.
Members of NGO Shaktivahini, part of the team that rescued the 18-year-old maidservant from her employer’s home in upscale Vasant Kunj on September 30, said Safdarjung Hospital authorities around 9am asked the girl’s mother to “take her out” of the general surgical ward.
The girl’s mother, a rural wage earner in Sahebganj, can’t speak proper Hindi. She did as she was ordered.
“The way hospital officials behaved today was shocking. The girl could have died,” said Rishikant of Shakti Vahini.
He added that when they heard the girl was lying on the pavement without medical support, he and his colleagues rushed to the hospital’s burns and plastic surgery unit.
“The hospital flatly refused to admit her. We finally asked Delhi health Dieser Geld online casino spiele automat zeigt Vieles, was mit Elvis in Verbindung gebracht werden kann. minister Kiran Walia and CPM leader Brinda Karat to step in. The girl was readmitted in the evening only after they intervened,” he said.
Once readmitted, the girl was administered five units of blood. However, no explanation for this inhuman conduct came from the hospital. Hospital authorities, including medical superintendent B.D. Mathani and spokesperson S.N. Makwana, were not be available for comments.
The girl was admitted to the hospital with major cuts and burns all over her body. Her employer Vandana Dhir, formerly country communications director of French engineering MNC Alstom India and South Asia, is now under judicial custody. Representatives of the Jharkhand government in Delhi said they were shocked at the turn of today’s events.
“When HRD minister Geetashree Oraon visited the victim in Safdarjung Hospital on Sunday, a top-ranking official said the girl would be in the hospital for at least a week. We don’t know under what pressure they threw her out today without informing us,” said an official from Jharkhand resident commissioner’s office.
Delhi health minister Walia has promised action against authorities involved in this incident, NGO worker Rishi kant said. In the last few days, many politicians from Jharkhand, including JVM boss and former chief minister Babulal Marandi and Jamshedpur MP Ajay Kumar visited the victim, promised her help with education and job once she recovers.
Since June, Dhir, a sophisticated executive, in the privacy of her home, had forced the girl to work naked so as to prevent her escape, and subjected her to extreme torture, including hitting her with a knife, dog leash and heated pans. The disfigured girl may have to undergo plastic surgery.
